Highway and Transport Services – Enhancing Lives, Building Communities Join our team as a Service Specialist for Highways Development Management and help shape the future of transport and planning within our community. As the Service Specialist you will lead and manage the technical delivery of Major Highways Development Management Schemes, enabling the development and growth of Wiltshire’s Highway infrastructure in line with the Local Plan and the Council’s Business Plan priorities. Your innovation and problem-solving abilities will enable you to negotiate and lead multimillion pound schemes with a variety of key stakeholders and large developers. In this role you will facilitate new development and secure mitigation of any adverse impacts, ensuring that development proposals adhere to national and local policies, whilst providing necessary infrastructure for sustainable development. Our ideal candidate will be educated to Masters level in a Highways and Transport discipline or have equivalent demonstrable experience. You will be a member, or have eligibility for membership, with Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport or Chartered Institute of Engineers. You will hold a comprehensive knowledge of scheme delivery, including the knowledge to influence and achieve policies reflecting corporate and service requirements for the local area. To excel in this role, you will have excellent communication and project management skills, with proven experience of dealing with the public and other stakeholders as well as a proven ability to manage and resolve controversial and challenging issues in a complex environment.
