Job summary This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who ideally has a recognised qualification in Cognitive Behavioural psychotherapy and BABCP registration to join our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in schools as a B6 Psychological Practitioner (Education). The Team is based in Basingstoke and provides high quality, specialist psychological therapy to young people, their families or carers. This is an established team that is part of a wider service with MHSTs covering Andover, Winchester, Alton and Petersfield. All teams are at an exciting stage in their development and have built good working relationships with schools and young people in the area. The successful post holder will be based in Basingstoke and will be expected to complete assessments and to hold and manage a complex clinical caseload and to support Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP) and EMHP trainees by offering information and advice and providing clinical supervision. The teams form part of the Early Help provision within the North of the county so will be working closely with the existing Primary Mental Health Service and other MHSTs in the region as well as the locality based Community CAMHS teams. Main duties of the job To work as a member of the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in schools, providing a high quality, specialist psychological therapy service to young people, their families or carers. In addition, to support psychological practice within the team by communicating effectively about the psychological care of young people, by contributing to the supervision of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and trainees, as well as less experienced psychological therapists, and by participating in systematic clinical governance. Deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health problems. Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services. Supporting/facilitating staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing. Working with and within education environments to afford better access to specialist mental health service.
