We have an exciting opportunity for 2 highly motivated officers to join our high-performing regulatory services team. We are a forward-looking service with arrangements in place to provide services for other councils.
The role involves undertaking a range of functions relating to environmental protection including air quality, contaminated land, permitted processes, investigation of statutory nuisances, reviewing, and advising on planning and licensing applications.
This post is focused upon delivering services for Peterborough City Council and Rutland County Council as part of our Regulatory Services shared service agreement. You will be required to work closely with colleagues and with our external partners based in both Peterborough and Rutland offices. The diverse demographic and geographic nature of the area covered by the service makes it an ideal ground for the professional development of any officer.
The successful applicant will be a motivated officer with a passion for environmental protection, holding an environmental or science-based Degree. We are also willing to consider newly qualified graduates, with the necessary attributes, who we will be able to train and develop into the role.
The role requires excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work, and a solution-focused outlook. We welcome applications from people looking for both full-time and part-time employment. Though ideally looking for experienced officers, we would consider applicants who have relevant skills and qualifications suited to a Pollution Control Officer Post.
In the supporting statement to your application, you should demonstrate how you meet each of the Essential and Desirable Criteria of the Person Specification relating to the post applied for. Please remember the quality of your supporting statement will determine whether or not you are shortlisted for an interview. You should describe your knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities gained from your paid and voluntary work, plus studies, hobbies, etc. It will be beneficial to ensure your information is structured clearly using headings to match each of the criteria in the Person Specification.
Our aim is to remain at the forefront of regulatory services delivery, encouraging innovation amongst team members to drive forward and develop the service. We are an ambitious service and set ourselves high standards. If you are equally ambitious, we would like to hear from you.
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation, and the communities we serve.
For an informal discussion, please contact Lynden Leadbeater (Principal Environmental Health Officer) on 07920 160788 or Jacqui Harvey, Head of Environmental Health and Licensing, on 01733 453502.
