An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fire Safety Manager at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal, strategic, financial, technical, and organisational skills, to work with the team to drive forward the capital agenda in South Tees.
As Fire Safety Manager, you will work closely with the Deputy Director of Estates, Capital and Programmes and the wider Estates team. You will assist in the lead for fire safety across the Trust and be responsible for the Trust's fire safety programme, delivering an ‘outstanding’ healthcare environment for patients and staff.
You will be comfortable working in a multi-stakeholder environment and bring a collaborative approach to enable you to deliver in partnership with colleagues and stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the management and provision of a comprehensive and high-quality Fire Safety service across the Trust.
2. Formulate and lead the development of a Trust-wide Fire Safety Strategy, promoting a raised awareness of fire across the organisation.
3. Develop close working relationships with the Executive Directors and all Senior managers to ensure a coordinated approach to governance and fire risk.
4. Ensure effective systems are in place to collate and analyse complex information regarding risk management and health & safety.
5. Work collaboratively with senior managers to ensure all fire risks are identified, assessed, and action plans developed to mitigate risks.
6. Ensure systems are in place to evidence compliance with legislation, standards, and approved codes of practice for fire safety.
7. Provide expert support, advice, training, and leadership on mandatory and role-specific fire training.

Person specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Good working knowledge of RIDDOR.
* To be able to demonstrate good working relationships with the HSE.
* Leading a team.
* The ability to carry out a complex investigation.
Qualifications and Training
* Professional qualification in discipline relating to fire safety.
* Fire risk assessor training and competency.
* NEBOSH or equivalent fire certificate.
* HTM fire risk assessors training.
* Experience working as a fire advisor/fire manager in a healthcare environment.
* Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme (4.5 days).
* Member of the national association of healthcare fire officers.
Experience
* Extensive experience in a Fire Safety management capacity in the NHS or any other large organisation.
* Experience of developing and implementing Strategies and Policies.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of developing and delivering training to all levels of staff including senior managers.
* Experience of managing own workload and that of others.
* Experience of working at corporate/senior level and influencing strategic direction.
