Christ's College are looking to recruit a Lead Teacher of Boy's PE who will enthuse pupils to learn with a combination of great subject knowledge, energy and dedication. We are a relatively small 4–16 school, part of the Emmanuel Schools Foundation. Reflecting our independent school heritage, we have a reduced school year (180 days for students) with 10 additional days of holidays for teaching staff.
We are an all-through school with children from 4 - 16 years old and have high expectations for our students as they grow and develop and all our staff provide important role models to them in terms of positive attitude, work ethic and diligence.
The successful candidate will:
1. Lead the all-through PE Team to uphold high standards and high-quality learning and engagement in PE.
2. Develop and renew all-through schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
3. Facilitate learning by establishing effective relationships with pupils of all ages.
4. Maintain organised learning resources.
5. Create a positive learning environment in the classroom where all flourish.
6. Assess and record progress, intervene to plug gaps and prepare pupils for national tests.
7. Link pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further, challenging and inspiring pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.
8. Ensure a vibrant and engaging extra-curricular sporting offer.
9. Seek ways to raise the profile of sport across all age ranges and healthy lifestyle choices.
10. Ideally offer a second subject in the secondary phase.
