This position offers an exciting opportunity for a registered Learning Disability and Autism Practitioner to join the EMAS strategic mental health team to further develop and drive forward the ambulance response to our population living with Learning Disability and/or Autism.
The postholder will work across the EMAS geographical footprint (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire) to develop pathways, provide specialist advice/guidance to service lines and support the mental health team to deliver and implement the aspirations of the NHS Long Term Plan (2019).
Main Duties of the Job
* Maintain specialist knowledge of Learning Disabilities and Autism and its application within pre-hospital urgent and emergency care.
* Ability to consider, synthesise and analyse complex situations that arise in the prehospital environment and provide where required advice and guidance to a broad range of clinicians.
* Provide information, advice, and guidance to the trust's workforce education teams to support them to further develop related resources that will help support questions and queries that arise regarding Learning Disability and Autism on induction and mandatory training.
* Attend relevant internal and external meetings to represent the strategic mental health team and provide updates on ongoing workstreams, ensuring all work is underpinned by appropriate governance structures and reporting processes.
* Work with the strategic mental health team to identify and develop Learning Disability and Autism related education/CPD materials and practice-based guidance based on learning from incidents, complaints and reviews.
* Devise and conduct assessment of learning against prescribed outcomes.
About Us
The postholder will report to the EOC/999 Mental Health Lead and work within the wider organisation multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications and Professional Development
* RNLD or Registered Occupational Therapist/Social Worker/Psychologist with Learning Disability and Autism experience and expertise.
* Educated to postgraduate level or equivalent knowledge through experience and portfolio.
* Portfolio of CPD evidence showing commitment to personal development.
* Teaching Qualification / Assessing Qualification.
* Knowledge of Ambulance Service.
* Robust evidence of experience and understanding of the wider health care system management.

* Experience of working with people with Learning Disability and Autism in a variety of settings.
* Experience in providing advice/guidance regarding people with Learning Disability and/or Autism/application of relevant legal frameworks/complex situations.
