GSL Education’s South Yorkshire branch is seeking motivated and passionate Psychology Graduates to work as Teaching Assistants on a 1:1 and small-group basis with students in Sheffield. Key Responsibilities for Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, helping them with their academic progress and personal development.
* Work closely with classroom teachers and SENCOs to support individual students with specific learning needs, including behavioural and emotional challenges.
* Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans to help students achieve their educational goals.
* Support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, using your psychology knowledge to understand their behaviours and needs.
* Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and encouraged to engage.
* Provide targeted support during lessons and assist in managing classroom dynamics to ensure students stay focused and on task.
* Track students’ progress and report back to teaching staff, contributing to the adjustment of learning strategies as needed.
* Help with planning and delivering tailored interventions to boost students’ confidence and learning.
* Assist in the development of resources and materials to support learners’ educational needs.
Requirements for Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant:
* A degree in Psychology or a related field, with a strong interest in applying psychological principles to education.
* A passion for working with children and young people, particularly those who may have additional learning needs or face emotional and behavioural challenges.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities.
* The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, supporting the wider school environment.
* Previous experience in a classroom or working with young people (desirable but not essential).
* A desire to pursue a career in education, with an interest in potentially moving into a teaching or support role in the future.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
