We’re delighted to offer two brand new apprenticeships to Twinings within our Engineering Team beginning September 2025. The apprenticeships offer a hands-on learning experience in engineering, allowing you to gain practical skills, work on real-world scenarios, and receive mentoring from experienced engineers. You will underpin manufacturing operations at the Andover site by conducting plant maintenance activities to achieve targeted levels of productivity, whilst championing our great safety culture.
On completion of the 4 year apprenticeship program you will have achieved:
* NVQ2 – Mechanical
* NVQ 3 – Mechanical maintenance
* BTEC L3 – Advanced manufacturing engineering
Key Responsibilities
* Work alongside multi-Skilled Engineers on a variety of maintenance tasks.
* Undertake planned and reactive maintenance activities, recording and reporting all relevant data and information.
* Overhaul and refurbish mechanical parts and equipment.
* Work cross functionally with teams in the organization to identify and systematically solve technical problems.
* Identify and implement machine modifications and upgrades.
* Support in developing the equipment maintenance strategies through quality problem solving and implementation of best practice maintenance techniques.
* Deliver performance and improvement initiatives against agreed maintenance and operations KPI’s.
Training Program
Year 1
* Offsite (Southampton SETA) – 20 weeks
* Off the job training at a local college learning engineering fundamentals - (NVQ L2)
* Onsite (Andover) – Remaining time
* Learning of manufacturing environment fundamentals.
* Introduction to tea bag manufacturing and how to effectively operate and carry out first line fixes.
* Development of core mechanical skills in the workplace
Years 2 - 3
* Offsite (Southampton)- 1 day a week
* Off the job training at a local college learning engineering theory - (BTEC L3)
* Onsite (Andover) – 4 days/week
* Further developing and enforcing of core technical skills through 1-2-1 coaching and development via experienced engineers – (NVQ L3)
Year 4
* Onsite (Andover)
* Your time to start demonstrating in practice some of the great skills you’ve learnt so far.
* Opportunity to start development into a multiskilled engineer – Electrical/control engineering training
* End Point Assessment
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* GCSE or equivalent in:
o English (Grade 4-9 (C-A*) or equivalent
o Maths (Grade 4-9 (C-A*) or equivalent
o Sciences (Grade 4-9 (C-A*) or equivalent
o Please note that if you have not yet finished your GCSEs, any offers of employment will be contingent on obtaining the above successful grades.
