Department Overview: Vehicle Lines are integral to our matrix Engineering function, ensuring focus and delivery through the functions. Job Purpose: The Chief Product Engineer is accountable for the end-to-end cycle and delivery of a new product from Concept through Full Production, with the responsibility of managing the balance between cost, quality, and timing. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Technical / Programme Delivery Reviewing and aligning on decisions with technical impact to programme, challenging where necessary Responsible for programme targets as set by Product Committee in alignment with Chief Technical Engineer, ensuring delivery of performance attribute targets through functions Manage the balance of cost, quality and timing matrix through monitoring, review and decision making Provide governance over product definition and gateway processes Ensure accountability from functions for delivery of programme milestones Responsibility for programme finances such as profitability, investment. Working closely with dedicated finance analysts to collect, review and present date to senior stakeholders and Executives. Ensure a KPI approach to programme delivery Ownership of product and ‘Take to Market’ interacting with Commercial stakeholders Launch Execution of vehicle into launch with support of Launch function Delivery of product to production achieving volume and quality standards Resolve and drive escalations through LCM committees with senior stakeholders Senior Engagement Manage initial escalations through problem resolution mitigation, and escalate to VLD where necessary Provide regular programme status reports to senior stakeholders such as VLD and Executive team Experience and Qualifications: Essential: Engineering Degree or equivalent Strong Engineering background and solid knowledge of engineering principles Knowledge of automotive quality processes (as a minimum 8D, and ideally APQP or similar) Programme management experience, preferably within Automotive Previous experience in delivering technical programs, preferably whole-vehicle Experience in leading a cross-functional team within a matrix organisation, including complex issue resolution ability, risk evaluation and decision-making Knowledge of Product Development Processes, including scoping, requirements, sourcing, design verification, system integration, tooling, releasing and production part approval Preferred: Supplier management experience Cost reduction program experience Required skills and behaviours: Able to arbitrate conflicts and facilitate the decision making Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels Ability to take large amounts of information/data and clarify down to a clear and simple message Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with autonomy Strong sense of ownership and responsibility with an ability to see the bigger picture Highly organised person who is process-driven and can work autonomously Ability to bring people together and generate aligned solutions GRADE: SM Parental leave cover for 12 months Belong at Aston Martin We understand that the incredible beauty, craft, and art that defines an Aston Martin comes from the inclusion of our amazing people.
