JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: DECONTAMINATION TEST PERSON / CP(D) RESPONSIBLE TO: DECONTAMINATION Authorised Person / Estates Officer ACCOUNTABLE TO: Head of Estates GRADE: BAND B2 JOB PURPOSE: To provide maintenance and weekly testing to washer disinfectors, porous load autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, laboratory autoclaves, endoscope washer disinfectors and water treatment plants. ORGANISATIONAL CHART: Appended KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREDTo assist/guide the test persons with mechanical tasks. To have excellent communication skills. To be competent in IT skills. To be able to work on own initiative. To be able to work as part of a team. To have a customer focused approach to work. To hold a full current driving license. To attend minor breakdowns of decontamination equipment. KEY RESULT AREAS Statutory requirements and principles and practices of servicing and maintaining decontamination equipment with the skills to diagnose and repair simple faults on equipment. Obtain an understanding of electrical systems in connection with decontamination To efficiently and effectively organise resources including labour, materials and transportation. To liaise with managers and department heads to arrange access where necessary. To ensure good standards of workmanship, ensure all records are maintained and observe the Trusts procedure for Quality Control. To observe statutory and other relevant requirements, in particular those relating to Health and Safety. The successful candidate will receive appropriate training both in house and away on specialist training courses. Supervise other trade staff as appropriate. Carry out routine duties and provide a reactive and preventative maintenance service as directed. To monitor planned preventative maintenance schedules. To be based at Gloucester Royal Hospital but working at other Trust properties as necessary. To carry a bleep, radio hand set or mobile phone/PDA as required. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONTIONS Continuously wearing protective clothing and frequent use of personal protective equipment. Frequently lifting and carrying loads up to 25Kgs. Occasionally lifting and maneuvering loads over 25Kgs using appropriate lifting equipment. Bending, crawling, working at heights, in cramped conditions, in restricted spaces and in extremes of temperatures. Regular working with body fluids, bio hazards and encountering sharps. MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THE ROLE To ensure that all work is undertaken promptly, efficiently and to the highest standards while maintaining a customer focused approach and to carry out that work with the minimum of disruption and with consideration for patients, staff, members of the public and colleagues. The successful candidate will be expected to travel around various health care locations throughout Gloucestershire carrying out Maintenance on and Testing Sterilisers, Washer Disinfectors and other Decontamination Equipment. They will be expected to report on the performance and condition of the equipment in writing to both the user and the Decontamination Engineer.
