Role Purpose:
At SCCU, we are looking for a dynamic, resourceful, and mindful ASF Vocational Tutor with an attention to detail who will significantly impact the growth and development of our learners. The ASF Vocational Tutor should have experience delivering level 1 and level 2 vocational qualifications and working with adult learners.
This is an opportunity to be a fundamental cog in an agile team that is responsive to the needs of our learners and supports our strategic goal of being a market leader in education.
As a key member of the team, you will play a lead role in progressing and enhancing the learning of learners within the organisation and beyond. We are keen to secure a high calibre tutor who can make a telling contribution to our forward-thinking team.
You will be pivotal in constantly stretching and challenging learners to achieve the best results possible in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To deliver on our ASF funded programmes and support positive employment outcomes.
2. To undertake the planning and delivery of a range of level 1 and 2 qualifications.
3. To assess learners' performance during their time on programme.
4. To maintain up-to-date and accurate records (e-portfolio) for each individual learner according to internal procedures.
5. To provide ongoing information, advice, and guidance for learners to reach their aspirations.
6. To take an active role during standardisation meetings.
7. To deliver training to groups of learners face-to-face at an agreed location where required.
8. To comply with the internal quality assurance strategy to ensure that assessments are delivered to a high standard.
9. To provide progression, retention, and achievement information for the course being taught.
10. To contribute to the self-assessment process which informs continuous improvement.
11. To undertake any work required for the accreditation of courses.
12. To keep up to date with curriculum development in the relevant subject areas.
13. To carry out day-to-day administrative tasks assigned by the line manager.
14. To deliver inclusive and high-quality courses, materials, and opportunities to all learners and to liaise with the Quality Assurance Managers to ensure and address the quality of work offered, and actively seek to eliminate any indirect or direct discriminatory practice or behaviours.
Key Skills & Attributes:
1. Proven knowledge of effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices to engage learners.
2. Knowledge and understanding of standards up to level 3 with different awarding bodies.
3. Knowledge of funding streams and funding requirements for the delivery of the Adult Skills Fund.
4. Ability to support and motivate learners through difficult and challenging times.
5. Excellent time management skills and ability to manage your own diary.
6. Ability to take learners through completion in a timely manner.
7. Ability to deliver both online and classroom-based lessons.
Personal & Emotional Support:
1. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that acknowledges and addresses learners' personal and emotional needs.
2. Act as a resource for learners experiencing personal challenges or difficulties, providing appropriate referrals or counselling.
3. Advocate for learners' well-being and ensure their voices are heard within the educational institution.
Education & Experience:
1. Teaching Qualification at level 5 or similar (desirable).
2. Qualified Teacher Status (desirable).
3. CAVA or equivalent qualified (essential).
4. Experience of working with young people aged 16 plus.
5. Experience of inspection under the current Ofsted framework (desirable).
6. Experience of working in education, as a tutor, training, and development environment with a demonstrable track record of successful outcomes.
7. Proven experience of successfully managing the full learner journey; initial assessment, IAG, diagnostic, teaching-learning-assessment, including classroom and 1:1 delivery.
8. Experience of delivery in a range of settings.
