This is an exciting time to join the Executive Team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as we continue our improvement journey. We are proud of our recent improvements; however, we recognise the opportunities and ongoing challenges facing our Trust and wider health and care partners. In taking on this important role, you will bring experience, energy and innovation to guide, develop, and shape our medical professionals while supporting the further development and implementation of the Trust’s priorities including its financial sustainability plan.
We recognise that if our Chief Medical Officer is going to achieve genuine and lasting change, they will need outstanding communication, networking, and engagement skills, with a dynamic, patient-centric approach that promotes a culture placing safety, quality, and outcomes at the heart of everything we do.
An inclusive leader, you will also play a critical role in representing the Trust within the Lancashire and South Cumbria ‘system’, working collaboratively with other medical directors at a national and regional level. To take this critical executive portfolio forward, we require a talented leader with a track record of providing visible, credible, and effective leadership always focused on patient safety.
Working as a key member of the Trust’s executive team, as Chief Medical Officer you will share collective responsibility with the Board for leading organisational and cultural change and guiding the Trust to become widely recognised as a great place to work.
Working closely with the executive team, clinicians, senior operational teams and staff networks alongside system partners, we are looking for someone whose own personal values align with ours of ‘caring, safe, respectful’. You will have a vision for developing a culture that supports our colleagues to be the best they can be and to achieve better care together for the benefit of our population.
We are not underestimating the challenges facing today’s health system but believe there are the foundations here in Blackpool to deliver truly excellent, integrated services that can make a major impact on the lives of people we serve. If you have the compassion, skills, and track record to succeed in this exciting and complex role and help us achieve this ambition, please get in touch.
We are an organisation of scale and complexity with a workforce of c8,500. As a large, integrated provider of acute and community services to the 445,000-strong population of the Fylde coast health economy and the estimated 11 million visitors to the seaside town of Blackpool, your leadership as Chief Medical Officer will impact the health outcomes of a complex and diverse population.
With patients and families at the heart of all we do, we are committed to creating a culture that empowers our colleagues and inspires us all to deliver first class clinical care and models of care that are sustainable.
We form a central part of the Healthier Fylde Coast Integrated Care Partnership and our progressive approach to partnership working in the area provides an enviable opportunity to redesign and deliver services that meet the challenges of today’s health system.
