The position is for a qualified Occupational Therapist to work primarily in an eight bed PICU unit with some work across the Adult in-patient Mental Health service wards. The post will be part of the Therapy hub at Atherleigh Park Hospital, Leigh, Greater Manchester.
The Therapy Hub is a service provided for the five wards in the hospital and you will be part of The Therapy Team at Atherleigh Park and this comprises of Activity Co-ordinators, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and Therapy Assistants. The team is responsible for building a bridge from in-patient services to the most appropriate residence so patients can continue to live life well and achieve Recovery.
Supervision will be within the team. There is access to Trust CPD and Apprentice development opportunities which is directed through an individual practitioners personal development plan which matches with the needs of the service.
Main Duties:
1. Undertake occupational therapy assessments, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, risks and record the rationale for therapy in the care and risk management plans.
2. Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, using selected and graded activity to develop the client's skills in identified areas of deficit.
3. Supervise staff, professionally and non-professionally aligned.
4. Provide specialist reports to inform statutory bodies, MDT and onward referral agencies.
5. Contribute to an environment that works with local services to provide evidence based assessment and delivery of care within the context of Effective Care Coordination, Occupational Therapy models of care and least restrictive practice.
6. Support the delivery of positive behaviour support interventions in order to provide a least restrictive care environment.
What you’ll need:
* HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
* Have previous experience working in a mental health setting which is suitable in the current position

* Must have qualified as an Occupational Therapist and be registered to practice with The HCPC

* Experience working with clients in an acute setting

* Previous experience working in Adult mental Health in-patients
Qualifications

* Has maintained continuing professional development in mental health

* Has additional qualifications which relate to the assessment and Recovery of patients with mental ill health issues
