Job Summary:
Skillied and reliable Sewing Machinist needed to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in operating industrial sewing machines, producing high-quality sewn products according to design specifications. This role involves working with a variety of fabrics, materials, and garment types, ensuring attention to detail, precision, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The Sewing Machinist will be an integral part of our team, ensuring that production deadlines are met and quality is consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Setup & Operation:
Set up and operate various types of industrial sewing machines (e.g., straight stitch, overlock, zigzag, blind stitch) to sew garments and fabric-based products.
Follow design specifications and work orders to ensure accurate stitching and finishing of products.
Adjust machine settings (needle tension, stitch length, etc.) to meet fabric and garment requirements.
2. Sewing & Production:
Sew fabric and plastic pieces together, ensuring that seams, hems, and finishes are consistent and meet quality standards.
Work with different types of materials, applying the appropriate sewing techniques for each.
Monitor production speed and quality, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising on the quality of the work.
3. Quality Control:
Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
Perform regular checks on sewing patterns, trims, and finished garments to ensure all specifications are met.
Identify and resolve any quality issues during production, such as fabric defects or stitching inconsistencies.
4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on sewing machines to ensure they are operating efficiently.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine malfunctions, adjusting settings as necessary or notifying supervisors for repairs.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring machines and tools are properly stored and maintained.
5. Health & Safety:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, including the proper use of sewing equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure the workspace is kept clean, safe, and free of hazards to prevent accidents or injuries.
6. Team Collaboration:
Work closely with team members, designers, and supervisors to ensure that production schedules are met.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding any issues that may arise during the production process.
Assist with training or mentoring new sewing machinists as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
7. Experience:
Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with various types of sewing machines, including straight stitch, overlock, and serger machines.
Knowledge of different fabrics and materials, and the appropriate sewing techniques for each.
8. Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, patterns, and garment specifications.
Strong attention to detail and precision when sewing garments and fabric products.
Familiarity with industrial sewing machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Ability to work with patterns and modify them as needed.
