My Product Path is searching for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on behalf of a FTSE100 global group, made up of nearly 50 life-saving technology companies, with a worldwide customer base across various industries.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for managing and supporting on-premise infrastructure for clients, with a focus on firewalls, networking (switches and wireless technologies), virtualization platforms (ESXi and Hyper-V), and Windows Server environments.
You will also handle backup and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam and will have a working knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS. As this is a customer-facing role, strong communication skills are essential.
You will also be responsible for managing a direct report and contributing to leadership and project delivery, with the potential to grow into a management role.
Key responsibilities:
Manage, maintain and support on-premise infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless networks, Windows Server roles (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTFS), and virtualisation platforms (ESXi, Hyper-V).
Provide leadership and guidance to a junior team member, overseeing their development and performance.
Administer and support backup and disaster recovery solutions, primarily using Veeam whilst leveraging the cloud for offsite solutions.
Deliver expert-level troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to networking, server infrastructure, and virtualisation.
Work closely with each department to understand their requirements and ensure infrastructure solutions meet their business needs.
Provide support for cloud-based environments, with a basic working knowledge of Azure or AWS.
Participate in the design and implementation of infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of the infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.
Ensure security best practices are implemented across on-premise environments, with a particular focus on firewalls and network segmentation.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively, ensuring clients understand the impact of technology decisions.
Develop and grow your leadership and management skills as part of a business objective for career progression into management roles.
Key Requirements:
5+ years of experience working in on-premise infrastructure environments.
Strong hands-on experience with firewalls (configuration, management, and troubleshooting) and networking technologies (switches, wireless networks).
Expertise in virtualisation platforms, including VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Proficient in administering and supporting Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTFS).
Working knowledge of Veeam for backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Basic working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Excellent communication skills, with experience working directly with clients.
Leadership experience, either through people management or delivering projects in a lead capacity.
A desire for career progression into management, with the opportunity to advance within the company.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with hybrid cloud infrastructure (on-premise to cloud integrations).
Certifications such as CCNA, VCP, or Microsoft Certified.
Familiarity with automation and scripting to enhance operational efficiency.
