This post is for a Resident Clinical Fellow in Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation. This is a full-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated junior doctor to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute and life-long care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
The Northwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury Centre serves a population of some 7 million.
Applicants must hold full Registration with the GMC.
Contribute to the care of all inpatients, day cases and outpatients where appropriate.
Participate in the ward rounds with senior and junior medical staff, liaising with those and the staff of other disciplines as required. The practitioner will also be involved with the teaching and supervision.
Provide support to the NWRSIC for urgent and emergency cases as appropriate.
Assist in the compilation and analysis of data for medical audit and teaching as required. The practitioner will participate in clinical meetings and attend the departmental audit meetings and monthly journal club.
Undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues and undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances
Undertakes, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for the continuity of patient care
Take responsibility of day to day care and management of the in-patients of a particular consultant when the consultant concerned is either away from the Centre, on study leave, or on annual leave. During this period the post holder will take advice and support from the other consultant as and when necessary.

Acute Care
Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.

Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.
Community Services
Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
