Safelok Components Ltd are looking for a new apprentice to join their team as an Apprentice CNC Setter. Safelok Components are based in Wigan and are looking for a reliable and ambitious person to join their team of engineers as an apprentice.
Wage
£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
The NMW rate for Apprentices in the first year of training is £7.55 from 1st April 2025. The rates are then:
1. £7.55 for Under 18
2. £10.00 for 18 - 20 year olds
3. £12.21 for 21 and over
Training Course
Machining technician (level 3)
Hours
Monday 8am – 5pm (half hour lunch break)
Tuesday 8am – 5pm (half hour lunch break)
Wednesday 8am – 5pm (half hour lunch break)
Thursday – College Day
Friday 8am – 3pm (half hour lunch break)
40 hours a week
Duration: 3 years 6 months
Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What You’ll Do at Work
* Learning to set and operate a variety of highly advanced multiaxis lathes with the latest Fanuc CNC robotics technology.
* Loading and running CNC programs to test validity of the code.
* Producing a valid first off component and having it verified in our metrology department.
* Conducting in-process inspection to gain an understanding of Metrology.
* Inspecting work carried out and following the quality assurance system whilst recording production information.
* Keeping machines and workshop clean and in good maintenance.
* Reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
* Gaining proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
* Gaining a high level of IT literacy, including MS windows and Office.
* Learning programming and CAD/CAM skills.
Where You’ll Work
Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
College or Training Organisation

Your Training Plan
Training will take place one day a week at Wigan and Leigh College, Pagefield Campus WN1 2JH
