We are looking for a capable, experienced individual who has excellent communication and leadership skills. You will be responsible for ensuring that portering services are delivered safely, progressively and cost-effectively to prescribed standards according to Trust policies and procedures and meet the needs of patients, visitors and staff. Responsibilities: Develop and implement departmental aims and objectives, suggesting ways to improve departmental performance to the Portering Manager. Assign general and specialist portering tasks in accordance with departmental priorities, assisting in the preparation of duty schedules, organizing and arranging staffing cover in the event of sickness and annual leave. Ensure staff have sufficient equipment and materials available to meet service requirements. Support the team taking responsibility for training and development and maintenance of expectations related to all people management aspects. Provide leadership and direction to staff. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: Essential To be successful for this role you will have an NVQ in Healthcare, Health & Safety Awareness, knowledge of COSHH and Manual Handling Training. You will be able to work well as a member of a team, be able to communicate in spoken and written English, have the ability to motivate yourself and others, the ability to work under pressure and be able to organise and prioritise your own and the team’s workload appropriately.
