This role is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join our rotation working across the ELM Unit (Trafford), Trafford Surgical Elective Hub (TSEH) and Trauma Orthopaedics at Wythenshawe. Rotations are currently 9 months.
The ELM Unit delivers the post-acute femoral and fragility fracture rehabilitation pathway for Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) it has dedicated rehabilitation and assessment areas. TSEH delivers Specialist Elective In-patient and Day Surgery services across MFT. The Trauma Orthopaedic team delivers the Specialist Fracture Neck of Femur pathway for MFT.
The successful candidate will need to have clinical experience in orthopaedics, rehabilitation and managing complex cases. Demonstrate excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills with well-developed discharge planning skills. Have the ability to work under pressure in a busy acute environment.
As part of this Band 6 role the successful applicant will be able to contribute to service developments and quality improvement initiatives. Supervise Band 5's and unregistered members of the team.
The successful candidate will contribute to the weekend and on-call respiratory rotas. During the rotation at the TSEH the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the evening twilight service.
We are looking for someone who has relevant clinical expertise with a specialist interest in orthopaedics to deliver high quality care and patient experience.
Main duties of the job
1. To help deliver a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients in the area of specialty that you are working in.
2. To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with a diverse and often complex presentation. You will require excellent clinical reasoning to develop and deliver individual treatment programs and plan appropriate discharges, and be able to prioritise to clinical need.
3. To be responsible for organising and managing your own caseload to meet service need and patient priorities.
4. Be able to support, appraise and educate more junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students.
5. Support your team leaders and deputise as required.
6. To have excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and be able to show empathy and understanding.
7. Work as part of the therapy team and wider MDT demonstrating excellent communication skills.
8. Maintain Confidentiality, dignity and professionalism at all times.
9. To participate in the weekend and On call rotas as departmental policy.
10. To maintain your professional standards of practice and codes of conduct and ensure any staff under your supervision maintain these as well.
