County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust
We are one of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a population of around 650,000 people. We are a high performing organization with a track record of success. The service operates on two main sites: University Hospital of North Durham and Darlington Memorial Hospital, with a Radiology Department on both that provides MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear medicine, and Plain film services. Further facilities are available at Bishop Auckland Hospital including CT and MRI. The Trust has recently installed 3 new MRI scanners and replaces its equipment base under a managed service contract.
Join our dynamic team providing services including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Plain film, and intervention. We have vacancies for general and specialist radiologists. Sub specialty interests are welcomed, encouraged, and supported.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will work with our existing team of radiologists in both general radiology and areas of sub specialist interest. The department supports the local training scheme for radiologists with opportunities for supervision and teaching. It is expected that whilst the successful candidate will spend most of their programmed activities at one site, the role may involve programmed activities at other hospitals within the Trust in line with clinical requirements. These posts are subject to change in relation to site working and may be impacted upon by future service transformation. The post includes a commitment to being on-call; the department currently runs a 1 in 12 on-call week that involves being 2nd on call from home at all times (i.e., 5pm to 9am Monday to Friday and all weekend). An outsourcing company provides 1st on-call reporting during all on-call periods, and it is unusual to be called.
