We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer for a client based in Cheslyn Hay. You will be responsible for start to end process of projects with the core function of collaborating with other functions within the business to implement new projects. You will be expected to undertake tasks whilst ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency and quality is maintained.
Responsibilities
Project Engineer will be responsible for:
Communication
1. Constructing and adhering to project plan.
2. Good understanding of a number of project management software tools.
3. The ability to construct project plans with multiple variables and be assertive with other functions whilst demonstrating a professional approach.
4. Attend morning SQCDP meetings and further daily communication meetings as a member of the team to ensure their understanding of targets and objectives.
5. Build and maintain direct relationships with colleagues and customers, providing clear communication on all aspects of day-to-day operations.
6. Escalate relevant issues by promptly bringing them to the attention of the Engineering Manager.
Safety
1. Collaborate with the H&S officer and the leadership team to reduce risks in the area by following risk assessments and work instructions.
2. Ensuring they are working safely and maintaining a safe working environment.
3. Comply with all safety controls in the area.
4. Report accidents, near misses and safety concerns to a member of the leadership team in a timely manner.
Quality
1. Ensure that projects adhere to customer expectations, providing clear accurate responses to Customer Concerns in a professional and timely manner.
2. Report any quality concerns to their line manager and actively seek to improve quality whilst carrying out their duties.
3. Comply with Company quality standards.
Cost
1. Ensure compliance with project key milestones, targets and objectives.
2. Meet project deadlines in an efficient manner, 100% efficiency with an improving trend.
3. Constantly strive for productivity gains through VA activity and removal of 8 wastes.
Delivery
1. Manage allocated budget to support the company’s objectives.
2. Work closely with other support functions to deliver the company’s objectives.
3. Collaborate with the NPI function to deliver exceptional internal customer service.
4. Accountable for the project plan.
5. Providing accurate project progress on a weekly basis.
6. Utilizing capacity efficiently and effectively.
7. Monitors and executes project plan.
8. Advocate for the customer and uphold the promised delivery date.
9. Keep customers and systems fully updated on any delays and expected planned dates.
10. Coordinate with leadership and other departments to address exceptions.
Minimum Requirements
Project Engineer requires the following:
Appropriate experience in a high pressure, rapidly changing manufacturing environment is considered significantly more important than paper qualifications. Specific leadership and objective setting would, however, be considered an advantage. The ability to manage multiple projects, of varying complexity levels, and at various maturity stages is essential.
Essential
1. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
2. Excellent competency levels in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
3. Project Management experience within a Mechanical and/or Electrical Manufacturing environment.
Desirable
1. Formal Project Management qualification.
2. Product knowledge in Electrical Control Cabinets and/or Electro-mechanical assemblies and competency in Microsoft Sharepoint.
