Childrens Support Worker

Salary: GBP14 - GBP18 Per hour
Hours: Full time, Part Time, Temporary
Prospero Health and Social Care are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Childrens Support Worker to join our team in providing care and support to children with a range of emotional, behavioural, or physical needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting childrens well-being and development, while fostering a safe and nurturing environment. As a Childrens Support Worker, you will work closely with children and their families to promote independence, social inclusion, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one or group support to children with varying needs, including emotional, behavioural, and physical challenges.
2. Assist with daily routines, including personal care, meal preparation, and school activities, as required.
3. Support the childs emotional development by offering guidance, encouragement, and a stable, trusting relationship.
4. Encourage and engage children in recreational, educational, and social activities that promote their development and well-being.
5. Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, teachers, and healthcare providers, to develop and implement individual care plans.
6. Monitor and record the childs progress, behaviour, and development, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
7. Assist children in developing life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and self-care.
8. Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment at all times.
9. Actively listen to childrens concerns and needs, advocating on their behalf where necessary.
10. Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns to senior staff in line with child protection protocols.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 1 years UK experience working with children and young people.
2. Be able to provide professional references for anywhere you have worked within the last 3 years.
3. Must have an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the update service or be willing to process a new one with Prospero.
4. Strong understanding of child development and the challenges children may face.
5. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust and rapport with children.
6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
8. A commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity.
9. Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
