Join our team as a Biodiversity & Habitat Management Officer in Coleraine. Key responsibilities: delivering the NI Biodiversity Strategy, coordinating the Council BIP, and ensuring compliance with the Wildlife and Natural Environment Act (NI) 2011.
Key duties: developing and maintaining the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Local Biodiversity Action Plan, identifying and managing new sites as biodiversity parks/spaces, and promoting events in consultation with Councils PR Department.
* Contributing to the development of beach management plans
* Investigating, surveying, and managing the control of Invasive Alien Species
* Providing advice and assisting with management of trees and woodland
* Acting as a lead Officer for the completion of Habitat Regulatory Assessments (HRAs)
* Preparing and submitting assent and consent applications for work on designated sites
* Establishing financial reporting and record keeping arrangements
* Undertaking duties to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the Council
Essential Criteria: degree level qualification or above, and two years experience in a general management role involved in ecology/nature conservation/environmental sciences or countryside management.
Alternatively, candidates without the required educational qualification may be considered if they can demonstrate four years experience in a general management role.
