We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement specialist to work for our multi-national engineering and manufacturing client based in Darlington.
You will be joining the sourcing team in the mechanical systems department and will be carrying out a wide variety of tasks that will include the following:
1. Conducting complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply base; applies analysis to sourcing process improvement initiatives.
2. Identifying qualified suppliers and executing sound source selection processes.
3. Interfacing regularly with suppliers within the area of responsibility and maintaining the supplier relationship.
4. Understanding how key procurement principles are used toward assuring supply.
5. Sourcing specialised items and executing complex sourcing strategies in accordance with agreed upon sourcing strategy/plans at the optimum cost, quality, and relationship.
6. Working with peers and stakeholders to support business goals, such as supply security, reduction of complexity, or financial targets.
7. Independently carry out sourcing activities with full consideration for the impact of those activities on the end-to-end supply chain.
8. Execute sourcing tactics of varying complexity in accordance with established category/commodity strategies reflecting the optimum cost, quality, and delivery.
9. Participate in sourcing and category commodity strategy formulation.
10. Analyse complex sourcing and procurement initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost-effective and high-quality goods and services.
11. Prepare and present to senior procurement/sourcing leadership recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action.
12. Ensure consistent application of sourcing procedures and processes.
13. Support procurement/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building.
14. Lead analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced analysts and specialists.
15. Negotiate select contracts and develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to the benefit of both parties.
16. Understand the importance of compliance and be alert to situations that can pose risk to the company.
You must have extensive experience in a similar position and have a full understanding of procurement ethics, policies, and procedures and how these can impact upon the organisation. The role will require you to take on new opportunities and challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm whilst applying knowledge of the business and marketplace to advance the organisation's goals.
This is a temporary role, initially until June 2025, with the possibility of it being extended. It is a Hybrid position that will require you to go to site for team-related projects but with the opportunity to work from home a large proportion of the time.
It is a 37.5 hour per week Monday to Friday with an immediate start.
