We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Absence Officer to join our Human Resources team. This essential role focuses on managing and coordinating employee absence and attendance processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation. The Absence Officer will serve as the primary point of contact for all absence-related inquiries, utilizing their expertise to provide support and guidance to employees and managers alike. This position involves tracking absence records, analyzing trends, and implementing strategies to improve attendance and employee well-being. The successful candidate will work closely with HR colleagues to ensure accurate documentation and reporting, as well as maintaining effective communication with healthcare providers and external agencies regarding employee health matters. In addition to managing sick leave and other forms of absence, the Absence Officer will contribute to the development of initiatives aimed at fostering a healthy workplace culture. Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate employee absence records and documentation.
Serve as the first point of contact for absence-related inquiries from employees and managers.
Ensure compliance with company absence policies and relevant employment legislation.
Analyze absenteeism trends and report findings to HR management.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate employee support during absences.
Develop and implement strategies to improve overall employee attendance and engagement.
Provide training and guidance to managers on managing employee absence effectively.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience in HR or employee relations, preferably focusing on absence management.
Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations related to leave and absence.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Proficient in HR software and systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Hours Per Week: 37.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £18.26
Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
