Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: North London (Site & Office-Based) Sector: Civil Engineering – Infrastructure (Utilities/Power) Salary: Competitive, based on experience Car Allowance Bonus Benefits Reports to: Commercial Manager / Project Director Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join our commercial team on key civil engineering infrastructure projects in the Utilities and Power sector. The role involves overseeing commercial and contractual management of multiple live projects across the North London region. This is a great opportunity to work with a leading contractor delivering technically challenging utility infrastructure schemes for major clients. Key Responsibilities: Lead all commercial aspects of assigned projects from pre-construction to final account. Prepare and manage interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts. Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and contractual obligations. Provide accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. Support the project team with contractual and commercial guidance. Identify and manage risks and opportunities across projects. Monitor variations/change control and ensure appropriate commercial recovery. Attend client meetings and liaise with stakeholders to ensure project alignment. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and industry regulations.Requirements: Essential: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline. Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role. Strong background in civil engineering, specifically in utilities or power infrastructure. Knowledge of NEC contracts (Option A/C/E preferred). Excellent commercial acumen and understanding of cost/value management. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other commercial software/tools. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to various sites in North London.Desirable: Chartered or working towards chartership (RICS, CIOB, etc.).
