The role has been developed as a Support Secretary in the Medical Secretariat at EPUT, working with the Medical Secretaries to support the delivery of care for the service users. This is an opportunity to join a team with input into the wide-ranging services across the Trust and to develop and hone the skills of the individual with a view to progressing their career toward becoming a Medical Secretary.
These Support Secretary posts will support the Specialist Dementia and Frailty Services in the west of Essex. Duties will include contact with our service users and liaising with the medical team and the local Medical Secretaries with a focus on typing/formatting pre-typed letters and appointment booking to ensure the smooth running of the service.
Organisational and office administrative skills are necessary for this role as are a keen eye for detail and good communication skills.

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

The post holder will be required to provide secretarial support under the supervision of the Medical Secretaries ensuring that a high quality service is delivered. The post holder will display a willingness to learn new skills and develop knowledge in order to be able to deputise for the medical secretary when required. The role will require the post holder to undertake a range of secretarial duties including, but not restricted to, making clinical appointments, typing, minute taking, scanning, calls, and external correspondence handling and forwarding. The post holder will maintain the professional standards of the Medical Secretariat at all times.
