Do you have a passion for Infant Feeding? If so this is the job for you! Team ASPH is looking for a passionate, knowledgeable infant feeding lead for our Maternity Services. This is an organisational role for developing and maintaining high standards of infant feeding across the Ashford and St Peter's Hospital Trust.
The successful candidate will have a key role leading and promoting best practice, progressing and maintaining the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards. An expectation of the role is to be an 'expert advisor' for colleagues and deliver a multi-disciplinary education and training programme. We want you to be present and available to deliver women-centred care providing feeding support and advice.

Main duties of the job
* Take the lead for planning, setting, maintaining and evaluating agreed standards for infant feeding including developing strategies for achieving and sustaining the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative status.
* Promote the public health benefits of breastfeeding and lead to improve the continuation of breastfeeding in line with Baby Friendly Initiative Standards.
* Provide clinical specialist infant feeding support and advice where required alongside existing workforce using expert knowledge and judgement to provide individualised care/support packages.
* Ensure there is a training strategy to provide foundation and updates for all members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Identify the specific educational needs of individual parents and facilitate meeting those needs through the provision of specialist education, care and support.
* Contribute to the delivery of infant feeding training programmes and workshops for health professionals and women.
* Implement and embed clinical practice changes which demonstrate evidence-based individualised care and detection of emergent themes within clinical areas through localised robust governance processes.
* Work in partnership with local services and providers to increase breastfeeding rates as part of improving health outcomes.
* Monitor and audit progress towards achieving the standards required to achieve BFI accreditation.
