Data Quality Clerk

Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of Data Quality Clerk within the Data Quality Team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The role will support the application of data quality and information governance standards, regularly monitoring and striving to improve performance for the Trust. To support audit and other quality improvement activities for the Trust for example Referral to Treatment and commissioning data sets.
The Team work a hybrid model with set days working in the office and the remainder working from home.
Main duties of the job
* Promoting data quality and its importance.
* To review/analyse information to validate 18 week data collection against PAS system, record results and liaise with data analyst to ensure national return submission targets are met.
* To maintain close contact with operational staff and communicate requirements to achieve accurate data input to ensure system knowledge is maintained to a high standard.
* To monitor and maintain an understanding of operational working practices.
* To have knowledge and appreciation of performance targets and monitoring standards.
* To promote good practice to an agreed format at all times and convey data quality issues to users as and when required. Ensuring supporting documentation is up to date and accessible at all times.
* To assess and resolve complex enquiries, to ensure all reference data is kept to a standardised format and the quality of this data is maintained both initially and in the future.
* Liaison with all levels of staff within the organisation to understand any discrepancies and establish correct data collection. For example key data quality stakeholders, including Informatics, CMCSU, A&E and all clinical/clerical staff to ensure the timely resolution of data quality problems.
* Deal effectively and efficiently with queries from both internal and external.

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification and/or equivalent experience
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification and/or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience of data entry
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Access and Excel.
* Awareness of current development within the NHS and operational standards
* Knowledge of audit process
* Statistical & analytical skills
* Familiarity with medical terminology
* Experience of working within the NHS (either within primary or secondary care)
* Experience of Hospital information systems
Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
* Ability to organise their workload effectively to meet deadlines
* Able to work effectively as a team member
* Able to work with minimum supervision
* Able to meet changing demands and priorities with a flexible approach
