The opportunity
EY is looking for Managers to join our Financial Crime Technology Consulting team within our Financial Crime and Forensics practice, based out of the UK. We have large scale plans to expand our already market leading Financial Crime Technology practice and anticipate continued growth throughout the next five years. Your key responsibilities
1. Lead and work as part of a team to create valuable and practical insights for our clients, adapting methods and practices to fit their business needs
2. Provide input into the development of innovative solutions to address complex financial crime risks and issues and help our clients meet global regulatory expectations
3. Take responsibility for engagement planning, management, and leading teams in a variety of financial crime engagements
4. Support bids and proposals for new client opportunities and grow existing relationships with insights and thought leadership
5. Mentor staff and provide performance feedback for members of your team
Technical skills and attributes for success
1. Subject matter knowledge in more than one area of financial crime (e.g. Sanctions, KYC, TM)
2. Subject matter knowledge in more than one technology area or common Financial Crime solution (e.g. Microsoft Azure / Google Cloud, data quality, entity resolution, Quantexa, Nice Actimize, Symphony AI NetReveal, Pega, Fenergo, Fircosoft)
3. An innovative and analytical mindset on how technology, data and analytics can be applied to challenges across financial crime
4. A communication style which can bridge the gap between business needs and technology implementation
5. A clear understanding of the strategic implications of financial crime regulation
6. Support in managing financial aspects of engagements by organising resourcing, tracking fees and communicating issues to engagement partners.
7. Development of people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring colleagues
8. Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for colleagues
9. Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Financial Crime professionals
Non-technical skills and attributes for success
1. Stakeholder Management
o Experience of working with diverse range of stakeholders and in effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including written and verbal communication
o Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including the ability to establish trust and rapport
2. Project and people management
o Understanding of project management principles and experience in establishing project governance structure, ways of working and stakeholder update reports and metrics
o Experience in proactively identifying, managing and addressing project quality, budget and resourcing risks and issues
o Experience in setting up and managing complex project budgets and forecasts, including ability to identify financial risk
o Experience in motivating junior members of the team and providing necessary support through feedback and coaching
3. Leadership
o Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to guide and motivate others, and to make decisions that balance the needs of various stakeholders
o Experience in leading and managing a team of financial crime specialists, including hiring, training, and performance management
o Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate financial crime risks and strategies to a variety of audiences, including senior management and the board of directors

o Applies problem-solving and critical thinking skills when identifying issues, analysing problems, and devising effective solutions
o Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and perspectives to make reasoned judgments

To qualify for the role, you must have some or all of the following:
1. Demonstrable experience from professional practice (i.e. from experience working for a financial institution, vendor or consultancy practice) in at least one of the following financial crime domains:
o Know Your Customer/Customer Due Diligence
o Names Screening, Payments Screening, or Adverse Media Screening
o Transaction Monitoring/Customer Behavioural Monitoring
o Market Abuse and Surveillance
o Anti-Bribery and Corruption
2. Experience in at least one of the following areas of technology transformation
o Advanced Analytics (e.g., AI, generative AI, or Machine Learning)
o Large-Scale Data Transformation
o Cloud Transformation
o Unified Case Management solutions
o Solution vendors or working closely with innovative start-up organisations
3. Solid experience working in teams delivering financial crime transformation projects, managing systems and controls, or assuring and testing of financial crime functions.
4. Experience of agile transformation delivery models
5. Knowledge of domestic and international payments systems is desirable
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
7. Sound technical knowledge of financial services businesses and products
8. Appreciation of Model Risk Management frameworks is desirable
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder management, report writing, client presentations and project management
10. Enthusiasm to be involved in business and practice development activities and developing the Financial Crime team
11. Flexibility to travel and work full-time on assignments, as necessary
12. Functional knowledge of the UK and European financial crime regulatory environment (with knowledge of the global environment an advantage)
13. AML professional qualification preferred (e.g. ICA or ACAMS)
14. Strong academic background, ideally to a degree level or equivalent
