What's involved with this role: Interim EHCP Co-Ordinator - SEND Reference no: Merton 5265937 Pay Rate: £240.00 per day PAYE 35 Monday – Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 3 months City: Morden, London Enhanced DBS disclosure Hybrid working - 3 days a week in the office. This does include visiting schools, meeting with parents & children, young people & professionals at schools and meetings. You will take responsibility for the statutory process related to SEND, including formulating and issuing Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in line with the Children and Families Bill. You will advise and support parents, schools, colleges, and providers, managing expectations and resolving disputes. You will coordinate statutory assessments and provide ongoing support for children with severe and complex Special Educational Needs. Additionally, you will maintain effective relationships with parents, schools, and multi-professional teams. Key duties: Manage the assessment and placement process for Children and Young People with SEND, ensuring statutory deadlines are met. Draft Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), summarising professional advice in line with the SEN Code of Practice and Council policy. Contribute to planning for the 14 transition process, supporting young people’s future education and care needs. Prepare case briefings for SEND Panels to support informed decision-making. Coordinate and monitor SEND placements, ensuring pupil needs are met, value for money is achieved, and intervene in cases where placements break down. Key requirements: Educated to a degree level or above and/or demonstrable equivalent relevant SEND experience. Knowledge and experience of the SEN Code of Practice, current SEND processes and legislation, with understanding of the anticipated changes in legislation. Experience and knowledge of working with Children and Young People with SEND and their families, and an understanding of the requirements of working with young people with SEND, and schools, settings, agencies, families, carers in a professional capacity. A high level of experience of complex SEND administrative processes and time management, including the ability to use reports and databases accordingly. Experience working in a multi-professional environment, and coordinating responses accordingly Excellent communication skills with particular reference to letters, writing reports and telephone calls.
