When it comes to delivering excellent customer service, few environments are more rewarding than a place that brings enjoyment, education, and knowledge to a whole community. You will find this at Middlesbrough Library Service. It is an exciting time to be joining the service, as our Central Library is currently undergoing a major refurbishment programme.
The Service is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person with a love of books to join our Neighbourhood team, working across the North of the town. Although primarily based at the Central Library, you will also be working at Newport Community Hub and Myplace, a venue for young people in Middlesbrough.
At our busy Central Library, you will be working across Lending, Reference departments, and our Computer Suite, promoting the library and the wide variety of services on offer for children and families and supporting events and activities.
You will be able to demonstrate that you have recent experience of serving customers of all ages from across the whole community, in a face-to-face environment and you will be an excellent communicator.
You will need good IT and digital skills, enjoy working as part of a team, yet still be able to use your own initiative and be able to use our resources to answer the wide range of enquiries we receive.
The role includes evening and weekend working, and the requirement to work at any library in Middlesbrough as requested.
This vacancy is part time 19.5 hours per week.
