Supervisor Job Description
Reports to: Manager of Field Operations
Contract: 45 hours per week
Responsible for: Supervision of Engineers & General Assistants (GAs)
Location: Field based, predominantly in the Midlands and North of England. There will be a requirement to attend our 3 offices and client sites on a regular basis
Job Summary
The Supervisor provides leadership to foster a safe work culture and ensure compliance with company and site safety regulations, policies and procedures. This role involves supervising, training, and coordinating site personnel, reporting relevant site activities, and managing work quality.
Principal Responsibilities/Duties:
1. Site Supervision and Client Liaison
o Visit client sites to liaise with key contacts, contractors, and IVDC staff. Oversee the setting up and completion of jobs, ensuring safety, efficiency, and timely completion within budget.
2. Safety and Compliance
o Ensure staff wear and use appropriate safety equipment & PPE at all times.
o Coordinate with the internal Health and Safety Advisor and compliance supervisor.
o Respond promptly to safety issues, ensuring timely actions and corrections.
o Report any Health & Safety or IVDC procedure breaches.
o Conduct thorough investigations and reports on incidents and accidents, and participate in disciplinary hearings if necessary.
o Compile site audits, reports, and competency assessments covering health, safety, and environmental issues.
3. Resource Management
o Collaborate with the Operations team to optimize the use of site resources (labour, machinery, materials, sub-contractors), maintain records, and monitor resource usage.
o Oversee maintenance and calibration of machinery & equipment, ensuring full record-keeping.
o Work with other regional supervisors, to support each other and to maintain consistent practices across the UK.
o Assist the Operations/Sales teams in planning work, resolving work in progress issues, and providing practical on-site experience for future projects.
4. Training and Development
o Identify skill gaps, training needs, deliver toolbox talks, on-site training, and instructions as required.
o Liaise with the relevant Managers, and Health and Safety Advisor to arrange and complete required training, highlighting further needs.
o Participate in recruiting Engineers and General Assistants, overseeing initial training, competency testing, and conducting probation reviews.
5. Customer and Public Relations
o Resolve customer and public complaints through investigation and liaison with involved parties.
6. Fleet Management
o Monitor and coordinate Company vehicles, including vehicle checks, van audits, damage investigations, and driver behaviour monitoring, taking actions as necessary.
o Liaise with Compliance Manager to coordinate fleet services, repairs, and vehicle allocation.
7. Additional Duties
o Provide cover for the other Supervisors as needed.
o Accept out-of-hours calls and take immediate action if required.
o Assist other staff and carry out any reasonable tasks within your capabilities.
Experience, Knowledge & Capabilities
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the drainage and plumbing industry.
* Ability to solve operational issues and provide clear instructions to engineers via phone, video call, email, or on-site coaching and training.
* Knowledge of Drainage CCTV surveys and reports.
* Proficiency in MS Office and computer systems.
* Attention to detail.
* Prior supervisory experience is essential.

Travel
Regular site visits are required to support and fulfil responsibilities, including visits to all company offices and client sites as necessary.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £35,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
