There is a requirement for an enthusiastic person to join the Trust's Electronics & Medical Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be involved in the maintenance, calibration and repair of a wide range of medical devices including life support equipment such as anaesthetic machines, ventilators, renal and other highly complex specialist equipment used within a modern hospital environment. Knowledge of CCTV systems & medical equipment networking would be beneficial.

Main duties of the job
A Higher National Certificate or equivalent specialist study/experience in a medical electronic maintenance related discipline is essential, as is a current driving license as the post-holder will be required to take part in an emergency on-call rota and may be required to carry out maintenance on other hospital sites, in patient's homes or in the community.
The successful candidate will be required to rotate to any hospital site/location to meet the demands of the service. The base site will be confirmed at interview.
Job responsibilities
* The Senior Medical Electronics Technician is responsible for the maintenance, calibration and repair of a broad spectrum of medical electronic devices, many of which are highly specialised, complex and technologically advanced, requiring an in-depth knowledge of current engineering techniques.
* Carry out planned maintenance, repair, calibration and servicing of specialist medical equipment.
* Acceptance test new equipment.
* Train medical and technical staff in the use of medical devices.
* Take a lead role in major installations.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* A comprehensive knowledge of medical device technology and current analogue/digital electronic techniques to degree level standards is essential.
* A sound working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electro-mechanical applications.
* A full understanding of the operation and calibration of diagnostic test equipment.

* Good interpersonal skills, in person and by telephone.
* Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, suppliers and customers.

* Computer use including database, word processing, internet and e-mail.
Experience
* Comprehensive practical experience as a Medical Electronics Technician.
* Good level of knowledge of medical device management and related issues.

Qualifications
* Higher National Certificate or equivalent specialist study / experience in a medical electronic maintenance related discipline.
* Evidence of CPD including completion of specialist manufacturers training courses (post graduate level equivalent).
