Contract Recruitment Consultant @ Matchtech - I specialise in placing the right STEM talent into Defence OEMs.
To test products against defined specification requirements in order to ensure that they operate correctly while under the influence of environmental stresses (Temperature extremes, Vibration, Shocks etc.). The successful candidate will highlight potential weaknesses in product design to the key stakeholders. Part of the role will also require generation of detailed & precise test reports to present the results, technical analysis and commentary in order to obtain customer approval.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up of environmental tests using a range of test equipment and facilities such as Network Analysers, Data Loggers, Climatic Chambers, and Vibration Shakers (training will be provided).
* Perform De-risk, Development and Qualification testing ensuring delivery to agreed deadlines, while maintaining acceptable test standards.
* Set up and perform production Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) testing in accordance with the relevant requirements.
* Occasionally support/oversee environmental testing at sub-contract test houses if required.
* Identify and highlight areas of risk relating to specific requirements, equipment performance or personnel safety to the Test House manager.

* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Good general understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
* Proficient in use of Microsoft office software (such as Word, Excel etc.).
* Able to work with minimal supervision, determine own priorities and manage workload.
* Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours, weekends and possibly early/late shifts if required by the business to deliver critical testing.
Qualifications and Experience required:
* Proved track record in performing environmental test to customer requirements including producing test reports and technical data.
* Ideally educated to HNC/HND in related discipline, however Level 4 NVQ/ City & Guilds Level 3 or similar is acceptable.
* Completed Apprenticeship in an Engineering related field considered.
* Experience of working in a test environment.
* Good hands on experience, and experienced with use of workshop equipment, test equipment.
* Ideally holds experience with using electromagnetic Shaker systems (M+P International and DataPhysics controllers), Climatic Chambers (Eurotherm controllers), Tensile test machine (Instron) along with Network Analysers, DMM’s, Oscilloscopes and frequency counters etc.
* Laboratory or field testing of aerospace products is ideal but not essential.

* Delivery of quality testing, first time right, on time and within agreed duration.
* Adherence to company SHE, FOD and 5s practices.
* Good attention to detail to ensure that reports are produced in an accurate manner in the minimum time.
* Effective record keeping ensuring traceability of test results.
