A new job opportunity has arisen for a SHEQ Advisor to join our team based out of our offices in Burton on Trent.
Key Responsibilities
1. Promoting good health and safety practices throughout the business and driving the development of a positive safety culture with tactical plans that continually improve performance.
2. Lead Safety Committee Meetings and act on feedback.
3. Support the team to ensure the ongoing compliance of the company’s Integrated Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems with certified ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
4. Complete operational site audits and inspections to achieve health and safety compliance at site level, report back findings and ensure corrective actions are in place.
5. Work with clients and sub-contractors to build alignment with our approach to health, safety, and environment.
6. Provide technical health and safety advice in accordance with current legislation and good practice, including CDM.
7. Design and support the implementation of risk control techniques, promote the use of suitable resources, and oversee systems to manage risks effectively across the business and at sites.
8. Carry out required incident investigations to ensure that they are dealt with appropriately and that incident root causes are identified and acted upon.
9. Assist in occupational health matters relating to the physical and mental health of staff with the appropriate level of intervention, to ensure the correct advice and direction is given to the workforce at all levels and that a consistent response is provided by our supporting professionals.
10. Act on relevant legislative changes and organisational requirements, helping to develop and implement solutions where necessary to maintain compliance.
Skills and Experience
1. Technical and operational competencies with the ability to create pragmatic solutions to deliver objectives.
2. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to adopt different approaches and styles of influencing to foster effective working relations with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, at both business and site level.
3. Effective communication skills with the ability to deliver business compliance messages in clear and appropriate manners and build credibility with business leaders and site personnel.
Specific Qualifications
1. Experience working within the health and safety industry or in a similar role preferably within a related industry, such as construction or oil and gas.
2. An excellent working knowledge of current legislation, codes of practice, guidance, and operating procedures, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
3. Essential: Can demonstrate continued development within the health, safety, and environmental discipline.
4. Ideally a member of IOSH with a supporting level 3 qualification in occupational safety and health.
