Purpose of the Role:
Seeking a challenging role in next-generation products? Interested in innovative solutions? Join us as an Independent Design Authority responsible for the overall fitness-for-purpose of Sonar systems for submarines, influencing engineering approaches and strategic development in UK submarine sonar programs.
This role ensures delivery of full sonar capabilities as part of an integrated combat system, acting as the customer interface, and collaborating across the enterprise to maximize operational benefits for the Navy.
Experience Required:
* Broad and deep knowledge of submarine sonar systems, including array technologies, signal and data processing, and operator interfaces
* Ability to appraise specifications, assessment, design, and qualification artifacts within the engineering process
* Understanding of systems engineering processes for complex systems
* Knowledge of safety and cybersecurity requirements
* Experience in delivering projects on time and within budget
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
* Assess and influence the maturity of sonar system designs
* Ensure coherence at the combat system level, including third-party integration
* Collaborate with customers and partners to guide development and strategic direction
* Work with experts to confirm acoustic performance and transversal engineering aspects
* Manage technical baselines and risk mitigation
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer
Qualifications Required:
* Degree in a related subject
* Chartered Engineer (preferable)
