Job summary
The post holder will provide project and managerial support within Integrated Medicine Directorate which covers Care of The Elderly, Stroke & General Medicine services.
1. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly and across the services as well as providing virtual support to other sites in line with the needs of service delivery where appropriate.
2. The post holder will engage in multi-disciplinary working liaising with the clinical team and all associated internal and external partners and stakeholders, including Local Authorities.
3. The post holder will be required to be highly proficient in the use of all relevant Microsoft Office software applications, and the relevant CTMUHB patient information and Healthcare IT systems.
Main duties of the job
The key roles within the Operational Support Manager role will be as follows:
4. Responsible for the line management of the administrative support staff within the designated areas of responsibility
5. Be required to work with a high level of autonomy and independence using their own initiative
6. To work closely with partners to monitor and report activity, waiting times and data capture
7. Operationally support the Directorate in the delivery of medical workforce efficiencies
8. Provide project and managerial support which will involve providing management support in a number of areas, evaluating project outcomes and providing recommendations for consideration
9. Operationally support the effective delivery of key operational services and targets
10. Day to day operational constraints and challenges

14. Excellent communication skills are required to communicate and form close working relationships with multi disciplinary teams
15. Provide and present complex, and sometimes contentious information to Senior Managers and Clinicians in a way that is sensitive and understandable.
16. Be able to effectively present information and data to small groups.
17. On occasion, have to deal directly with patients and their carers on matters of a highly sensitive and confidential nature.
18. Manage the allocation of work to the Administrative and Secretarial staff within the teams, highlighting any discrepancies in workloads and taking the necessary action to rectify the position
19. Set up and initiate systems to collate and monitor actual activity and waiting list data, and ensure appropriate training/awareness is in place for user
20. Extensive knowledge of the financial control procedures and responsibility to ensure the Directorate financial control procedures are adhered to at all times
21. Contribute to plans to improve efficiency, support changes of practice and new initiative and to meet a variety of targets and objectives
