Main duties of the job
Theprincipal duties are dealing with requests from Patients, Doctors and Nurses. Making appointments, taking messages, andclerical tasks involving computer input/output, scanning and general filing.
ThePost holder will work within a team of Receptionists, in the running of busyReception areas across two sites. Thepost holder will be required to cover in the event of sickness and holidays ofother team members, occasionally at short notice, working within a flexibleshift pattern between 07:45 18:45 weekdays except

Job responsibilities
Makingand management of appointments using the practices clinical computer system.
Taking histories and adding information to our on-line triage systems.
Dealingwith patients and the general public's enquiries, taking accurate messages andchannelling them to the appropriate person.
Exercisetact and understanding when dealing with patients and the public. Deal with difficult patients/situations in aprofessional manner. To be aware of thein house complaints procedure.
Fulfillingclerical and office procedures with particular reference to reception work andcomputer duties.
Preparing documentsfor clinical sessions such as surgeries and visits. Locating patients records and filing wherenecessary.
Registeringnew patients, updating computer details as and when necessary, printout ofpatient summaries.
Processing therepeat prescriptions using the practices clinical computer system.
Daily scanningof incoming post using the Docman system to workflow to Clinicians or otherstaff and also to attach to patients EPR (Electronic Patient Record).
Tasks andworkflow actioned daily as requested.
Collect all monies on behalf of the Practice in respect of private medicals/overseas visitors etc, record and store in a safe and secure area.
Provide clerical support to other areas of the practice as and when required.
Liaise with colleagues regarding the days workload and hand over clear and concise information to colleagues on change of shift/end of day.
To be a key holder and lock and unlock the surgery, activating or deactivating alarms as appropriate. Ensuring the building is left secure.

Essential
1. Good general standard of education (GCSE/GCE) standard.

2. Typing/computer qualification.
Experience

3. Previous experience of dealing with the general public.
4. Working with IT systems.
5. Working as part of a team.

6. Previous reception experience. Experience of working within health care environment, preferably within a GP Practice.
7. Medical Terminology.
8. Experience of GP computer systems (EMIS PCS).
