Job Summary
Harrogate Integrated Facilities are looking to recruit a Mechanical Technician, to join a dynamic and diverse Estates Team. The post holder will be part of a team of multi-skilled engineering colleagues, delivering a continuously improving schedule of planned and reactive maintenance in order to provide a safe environment for patients, members of the public, and colleagues at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
Main Duties of the Job
The Mechanical Technician will undertake a wide range of maintenance, repairs, planned preventative maintenance, installation, and minor new works on equipment, plant, and engineering services at Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust and its partners. The post holder will be required to undertake fault diagnosis on a number of mechanical engineering systems, including: steam, heating, hot and cold domestic water, ventilation, building control and automation, pumps, compressors, drainage and sewerage. Training will be provided for work on specialist systems such as decontamination equipment (sterilisers, washer disinfectors, automatic endoscope reprocessors) and medical gas pipeline systems.

Person Specification
Education and Training Essential:
* Recognised trade apprenticeship with Level 3 Qualification (advanced apprenticeship, NVQ, national diploma) in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
* 3 x Competent Person qualifications in: low voltage, decontamination, ventilation, medical gas pipeline systems, lifting equipment OR willingness to undertake and achieve such training within 18 months of appointment.
* Current Asbestos Awareness certification OR willingness to undertake such training.
Knowledge and Experience Essential:
* 3 years' experience in service, testing, maintaining complex mechanical equipment.
* Must display a good knowledge of health and safety legislation and appreciation of potential hazards which may occur during the carrying out of maintenance work.
* IT literate and willing to embrace new technologies and more efficient ways of working.
Skills and Aptitudes Essential:
* Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to meet objectives whilst working under pressure.
