Position Overview
This position combines multiple skilled trade disciplines including mechanical fitting, welding, pipe fitting, and metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will be a versatile tradesperson capable of working across these complementary specialties.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Fitting
1. Install, service and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment mostly within the combustion industry.
2. Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
3. Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
4. Perform preventive maintenance and service on mechanical systems.
Welding
1. Perform various types of welding including MIG, TIG, and stick welding (ideally coded welding).
2. Join metal components according to specifications.
3. Interpret welding symbols and drawings.
4. Follow proper welding procedures and quality standards.
Pipe Fitting
1. Install, repair, and maintain piping systems.
2. Read and interpret piping diagrams and isometric drawings.
3. Calculate pipe measurements and mark cutting points.
4. Thread, bend, and fabricate pipes to specifications.
5. Test pipe systems for leaks and proper operation.
6. Gas Safe Qualified.
7. Install valves, fittings, and other piping components.
Fabrication
1. Create metal products from raw materials according to drawings.
2. Measure and mark materials for cutting and assembly.
3. Build structures and components to precise specifications.
4. Perform quality control checks on fabricated items.
Required Qualifications
1. Completed apprenticeship or equivalent experience in at least one of the listed trades (Fabrication, Pipe Fitting, Welding, Mechanical Fitting).
2. Valid trade certification/license as required by local regulations.
3. Minimum 3-5 years experience in industrial or commercial settings.
4. Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications.
5. Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills.
