Purpose of the Role
This role offers an opportunity to develop teaching experience, with the aim of becoming a skilled teaching practitioner responsible for the learning and achievement of all students in your subject(s), ensuring equality of opportunity for all.
The role begins with supervised support work with students, progressing into whole-class teaching practice. This prepares candidates for an Initial Teacher Training Pathway (ITT) or alternative career pathways within EdStart. ITT training is optional, and tailored progression opportunities are available based on experience and career aspirations.
Required Skills
* An education-related degree with some secondary school experience.
* Ability to build rapport with secondary school-age students.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Proven ability to help students achieve academic goals or assessment milestones.
Key Learnings and Responsibilities
* Maintain thorough, up-to-date knowledge of your subject(s) and relevant curriculum or pastoral developments.
* Plan and deliver tutorials, lessons, and activities tailored to individual student needs.
* Use a range of effective strategies for teaching, tutoring, behaviour management, and classroom organisation.
* Promote the health, safety, wellbeing, and academic success of all students, involving parents and external agencies where necessary.
* Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
* Set well-grounded expectations based on prior knowledge and achievement, aiming for progress at or above national standards.
* Engage in professional development and apply learnings to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
* Contribute to the aspirations, policies, and plans of EdStart while collaborating as part of our teaching staff.
