What you’ll be doing
As a SHEQ Advisor, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping and maintaining high standards in health, safety, environment and quality across the business. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Carrying out operational site audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
2. Supporting teams with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the company’s Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001).
3. Leading Safety Committee meetings and acting on feedback to continually enhance SHEQ performance.
4. Investigating incidents and near misses, determining root causes and driving the implementation of corrective actions.
5. Advising on risk control strategies, ensuring appropriate resources and systems are in place.
6. Supporting occupational health initiatives and promoting employee wellbeing across physical and mental health.
7. Collaborating with clients and subcontractors to ensure alignment with SHEQ expectations and standards.
To succeed in this SHEQ Advisor role, you’ll need:
1. A strong background in health, safety, environmental and quality management, ideally within infrastructure, engineering or facilities services.
2. Current knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice.
3. Practical experience with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards and their implementation.
4. The ability to conduct audits, risk assessments and investigations confidently and effectively.
5. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
6. A proactive, solutions-driven mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
7. Ideally, membership of IOSH and a track record of ongoing professional development.
