We are currently looking for the right person to join our team as a Buyer for the company and help develop our materials and contractor procurement.
We are a family-run business and are looking for an individual with star quality that aligns with our strong morals and ethics.
Our building and electrical divisions require a range of construction and M&E purchases. With further contract awards, we are looking to strengthen our team and ensure efficient sourcing.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the organisation, supporting key projects, liaising with senior management and accounts. Be keen to develop purchasing strategies and enhance our buying power.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement of key building materials, tendering, following up to receive quotations on time, reviewing quotes and directly discussing with QS.
2. Following up with suppliers to ensure lead times are maintained & delivered on.
3. Upkeep of materials management schedule to track materials from point of order.
4. Updating procurement packages on the schedule, tracking and setting reminders for releases.
5. Dealing with any procurement issues that may arise such as missing materials & any site requests with the team.
6. Coordination with project team throughout the whole process.
7. Supplier relationship management of existing and potential new suppliers.
8. Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations.
9. Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.
10. Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers and sub-contractors.
11. Contribution to Houghton leverage at every opportunity.
12. Ensure decisions are not focused upon the lowest price but overall best value for money.
13. Develop an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to overall Houghton strategy.
14. Consistently monitor the marketplace to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks, and opportunities.
15. Further responsibilities to be discussed upon full role briefing.
Experience & Skills required:
* Existing experience in a similar buying role.
* Experience within the construction or electrical sector.
* A skilled negotiator that can influence others.
* Detail-oriented and excellent organisational skills.
* Strong analytical/numeracy skills.
