At Change Grow Live you will be supporting people in recovery from alcohol/substance use to help them change the direction of their life, grow as an individual and live life to its full potential. As a duty volunteer you will play a key role in supporting the service and the staff team, ensuring communication between staff, service users and partner agencies runs smoothly. It can be extremely difficult to take that first step, calling for support or walking through the door to get help. This first point of contact can make all the difference, so it is crucial that we strive to ensure our services offer a warm and welcoming environment, not only at the start of a person’s journey but throughout it. Your role, as first point of contact within the service is to greet all visitors promptly in a friendly, welcoming and courteous manner. To book them in/out and to let the staff member know they have arrived. It can be quite an intimidating experience so you will help to put them at ease, taking them to the waiting area, offering a tea/coffee and sitting with them for a chat. During this time, you will listen, support and act as a positive role model, encouraging and motivating them prior to their scheduled appointment. It is also an opportunity to promote the service and talk about what we do as well as signposting within the recovery community. As a valued member of the team, you will work both alone and with the staff team supporting them with various duties as outlined in the key activities. There is an element of IT so you would need to be IT literate. You would be accessing, entering and updating records on our IT systems as well as using emails. You will receive training both prior to and consistently throughout the role to support any competencies and development. You should have a willingness to learn, be friendly and helpful.
