Job overview
The Acute Coronary Care Unit currently has an exciting opportunity for a full time band 6 substantive post available within the cardiac division.
ACCU is an innovative ward caring for a wide range of cardiac patients suffering a variety of conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmias and heart failure. We care for patients undergoing many procedures and cardiac interventions and, along with Manchester Royal Infirmary, we run the PPCI service for Greater Manchester.
This will be an ideal opportunity for a staff nurse with at least 3 years cardiology experience who is eager to expand and progress their nursing practice. On appointment the successful candidate/s will receive full support in education and preceptorship/mentorship.
We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest in Cardiology who are hard working and passionate about delivering high standards of patient care and are motivated towards maintaining and improving their own skills. A flexible approach to shift patterns is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing direct care to patients pre- and post-procedure for a wide range of cardiac conditions. The post holder will also be responsible for co-ordinating the movement of staff and patients between ACCU and the other wards within the division ensuring patients receive the appropriate level of care. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills with the full assistance of the ward manager and matron.
Applicants should have experience of caring for cardiac patients, meeting both their physical and psychological needs. You should be motivated, innovative and dynamic in your thinking and practice and be able to work as an integrated member of the ward team.
