Are you a strategic leader with a passion for engineering excellence? As Head of Site Engineering, you will play a crucial role in ensuring CEUK’s plant, equipment, and infrastructure operate at peak performance.
Reporting to the Engineering & Technology Director, you’ll be responsible for delivering maintenance, improvement, and CAPEX projects while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. You will lead diverse teams, drive preventative maintenance strategies, and implement processes that enhance reliability and efficiency across the site.
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced engineering leader who can drive continuous improvement, manage complex projects, and inspire teams to deliver high standards in a dynamic environment.
Key Accountabilities & Duties:
* Ensure all activities within the job holder’s control are undertaken in full compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and Company procedures and policies, and report any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss system) in accordance with your responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Oversee the Capital expenditure programme and provide leadership to the site Capital Projects team.
* Drive the identification of planned preventative maintenance schedules which cover all areas of site and satisfy all legislative and risk assessment requirements.
* Prepare, monitor and deliver the site maintenance resource plan which will provide adequate competent resource to deliver the site maintenance plan.
* Ensure that appropriate maintenance processes and standards are implemented and maintained, and that the computerised maintenance management system is adequately populated with maintenance information.
* Ensure that regular, structured communication is undertaken across the maintenance & Capital projects function.
* Ensure that maintenance KPIs are embedded throughout the site.
* Ensure the maintenance budget generated reflects the operational activity and is constantly monitored and controlled for each of the operational area.
* Review the site’s safety critical equipment and develop adequate method statements which will maintain their safe operation.
* Ensure an effective Planned Preventative Maintenance System is established for each operational area.
* To identify areas of specialised equipment needs and development of maintenance contracts that provide a maintenance support with fixed annual costs with a clearly identified scope of work with terms and conditions.
* To continually monitor current and future legislation to ensure that all maintenance activities are compliant, and plans are in place to ensure future compliance.
* Use of techniques such as Failure Modes and Effects (and Criticality) Analysis (FMEA and/or FMECA) to identify critical equipment and maintenance requirements
The Candidate:
* Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
* Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
* Continually seeks to identify new ideas and implement new opportunities, which deliver business benefit.
* The ability to build and develop effective relationships and use these to improve performance.
* Strong IT, communication and team working skills
* Knowledge of the principles of company policy and operating procedures in order to ensure site and company compliance.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
* NEBOSH Certificate
* Maintenance background
* Project management
* Experience in evaluating equipment reliability leading to Root Cause Analysis and consequent improvement plan
* Management of diverse teams and projects within a maintenance / site services function
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
* Excellent communication skills
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production/process environment
* Maintenance, plant & facilities management experience within a high hazard facility
* Strong influencing & leadership skills
* Understanding of criticality of compliance with site rules
