Hours Per Week: Mixed shifts available – Monday – Friday 9am – 2pm & 5pm – 9.30pm; Saturday – Sunday 9am – 2pm, 5pm – 10pm & Sleep in nights 10pm – 7am
ABOUT THE ROLE
I am a female adult living in my own family home, in Mansfield. I was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in 2014, which has left me requiring support with all daily living tasks. I need support with personal care and all transfers. I spend most of the day in my recliner chair and am waiting for the delivery of my new electric wheelchair.
I like to have an afternoon nap to rest and regain my strength. I enjoy having a purpose each day and need my personal assistants to be supportive and understanding of my needs. My diagnosis can make me low in mood at times, so I need someone who can support me with my emotional well-being. I used to be a professional dancer, so finding someone with common interests would be ideal.
I enjoy listening to music, partaking in quizzes, and keeping my brain active with brain teasers and word puzzles. I also enjoy watching YouTube and having a good laugh. I want someone who enjoys going to places, as I will want to visit different locations for shopping and local coffee shops.
Driving is not essential but is desirable as I do have a mobility car but can use public transport.
I am looking to recruit a team of Personal Assistants who can support me with day-to-day living, including some household chores like cooking, washing, hoovering, sweeping the kitchen floor, cleaning the bathroom, and at times some ironing. You will need to support me with my emotional well-being, personal care, and accessing the community, and possibly finding new interests or hobbies.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will live locally, be flexible, patient, have a calm presence, and a genuine caring nature. You will need to be enthusiastic and inspiring to bring a sense of energy into my life. You must also demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity, promoting my independence and respecting my family and home.
Candidates must be female and have previous experience supporting clients with mobility requirements. Having knowledge and understanding of MS would be beneficial, but full training will be given to the successful candidate.
During the day, a second PA will be available to support with transfers due to my requiring a hoist. A rota will be planned and agreed in advance. Anyone looking to apply needs to consider that my hours of support may change from time to time, so flexibility is necessary to accommodate this and cover annual leave or sickness on a pro rota basis.
The hourly rate of pay is £11.44 per hour, raising to £12.21 in April 2025, and all training is paid for, including the hours to complete the necessary training. An in-depth training package will be delivered to my team to support you in understanding how to care for me and meet my needs.
