The job itself
The Traffic and Parking Team are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist the Parking Operations Manager in providing an efficient and effective service of on-street parking enforcement and minimising the number of contraventions by motorists of the local parking regulations through the issuing of penalty charge notices (PCN's), including the Council's off-street car parks. The service will be undertaken in accordance with statutory legislation under the Traffic Management Act 2004, Part 6 (TMA) and Council policies. Successful applicants must wear full uniform and carry all equipment and identification while on duty and is to be based at the Beverley depot. However, they will be required to patrol and enforce throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire.
A motorcycle license is desirable, and all candidates are expected to pass the CBT course as part of their probation.
The postholder must be adaptable to work with changes to systems as necessary and have a flexible and positive outlook. Candidates will be expected to act with integrity and honesty, treat customers with respect, and have a positive mental attitude with a can-do approach. You will have the ability to learn and accommodate new ways of working and must be willing to undertake service-specific training as necessary.
The postholder must be self-motivated and be able to work on their own initiative as the post requires lone working. The postholder will also assist with Council-approved events on car parks and in the highway and provide guidance and information to members of the public.
There is an additional enhancement for weekend working.
