This post is for a Specialist Doctor inEmergency Medicine at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Emergency Medicine Services at Preston and Chorley are unified under a single Directorate. The successful candidate will be expected to work on both sites.The Specialist Doctor in Emergency Medicine will provide high-quality, patient-centredcare in the Emergency Department (ED). The role includes clinical, supervisory, and educational responsibilities, contributing to the effective functioning of the ED.
The post-holder will work within the framework of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) standards and guidelines to ensure safe, evidence-based care is delivered to all patients.
You will be expected to work a mix of shifts including, days, twilights, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
The post holder will:-
• Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the delivery of care to ED patients at both EDs at LTHTR .
• Provide direct care to patients, contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and participate in the delivery of Emergency care to adults and children.
• Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time.
• Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
• Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust forms one of the major acute Trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialties on site as well as being a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria in the departments of Neurosciences, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Renal Medicine.

•Designated place of safety under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983
•Follow-up clinics
•Major incident planning advice andexpertiseand training for Trust personnel
•A helipad on Preston site
